The "Jack LeLane Juicer" is phenomenal! I've used mine for a year now and the blade is still like nwe. All the better to juice with my dear! You can find a reasonable price at any Target store too. Happy juicing!
I, too, have the Jack LeLane Juicer and can attest to your sentiment. I've had mine for 3 years, using it heavily for the 1st year and less frequently after that. I've pulled it out to my new approach to Whole Living!
It take about 10 minutes to clean thoroughly but worth the effort.
I thought I'd post here regarding the Breville Compact Fountain - I just bought one a few days ago. The regular size 800JEXL Breville seemed so HUGE and our house/kitchen is very small so have space issues - I am impressed with the power and it makes great juice, but thought I'd add for anyone considering purchasing this - BEWARE that the stuff flies out the top really easy! seems it's so powerful and there's nothing to prevent stuff from spattering back up the chute when you drop the food into it - it helps to have the pusher ready, but you have to be quick and even then sometimes stuff still flies out. Also, the juice coming out the spout spatters a bit more than it should - this is not the best design - but it does a very good job for the price, and I am learning how to be "neater" as I learn to manage it's quirks. Clean up could be easier as well, but I suppose they are all like that. At least it's dishwasher safe, but so far I've washed it by hand and it goes very fast.
I just ordered the Vita-mix and I can't wait to start using it! I highly suggest going to their website and looking at the little video clips. This thing does A LOT more than just blend. It makes hot soups from scratch, all kinds of frozen drinks/smoothies/the usuals, it grinds grains, juices fruits & vegetables with the skins on, and even makes compost tea! I think it's well worth the investment, especially if you plan to follow a healthy lifestyle after the initial 4 weeks.
Just saw on QVC yesterday that they have the Vita Mix Creations 10 in 1 BlendingMachine for $414 and that includes the getting-started guide, getting-started DVD, Whole Food Recipes cookbook, blending stick, and stainless steel smoothie cup!
I got a magic bullet as a wedding gift last year. I just found it a few months ago and have been using it for smoothies for a while. It actually works really well. You put your ingredients in this little cup, screw the blades onto the top, then flip it to blend. Then you flip it back and drink straight out of the cup.
I haven't used it for anything else yet, but it saves me from having to wash a big blender every morning.
