A friend of mine did a detox for 30 days. She lost 35 pounds and gained it all back. Created cravings and caused dreams of pizza and binging. I'm thinking that four days is safe and just gets the holiday sugar out of your system, but still a little nervous. Anyone out there with experience with short detox like this one? No long term consequences?

You'll be fine with this one. It's gentle enough. This morning I'm drinking hot water with lemon. Nice. The e-news is back up again so sign up for the daily news. May help with what to eat. Be sure it's something you're not scared about, but comfortable with.
thanks much. I am following the prepare for thursday directions. I just don't want to feel like I will eat anything in sight . ..
Usually things like that happen when the detox is very intense and people's metabolism gets a little off kilter. . . and the severe restrictions and feelings of going without or denying yourself cause strong emotional cravings. . .
This detox is very gentle and nourishing and fully supports you so the long term consequences that you mentioned will not happen and the incredible long term healthy benefits will abound!!!
You're beginning to assist your body in the hard work of rebuilding your digestive system and subsequently boosting immunity, energy and overall vitality!

I did it last year and didn't do it for weight loss (even though I need to lose weight). Other than headache and some "bowel elimination" issues for the 4 days it went really well and I felt great afterwards with a lot of energy. I really highly recommend it and didn't have any adverse reaction. I jump started me losing 20 lbs and keeping it off! It really seems to be a very safe plan.
I am so dissapointed in my results from doing the detox Tues - Saturday and then splurging at an all you can eat brunch on Sunday with my 3 children. My children were encouraging and listen to my daily eating habits and did not think I was eating very much at the brunch. When I weighed this morning I had gained all my weight back from the brunch yesterday and now have to start over with bad results from my hard work last week! I am so bummed out!
What do you mean "Detox for 30 days"? A detox should be done for a short period of time like a few days or a week. Not 30 days. I've found the product"Clean Habits" to work well. You can get it at http://eastearthtrade.com/yinyangsisterstea.aspx

Dreaming of Pizza. Wow. I always thought detoxing was simply to flush the junk out of your body. So that you can easier and properly digest new, healthier foods you choose to eat once your colon is clean. I like pizza in georgetown dc. That's a good dream.

I did the 28 day detox from this website for the last two years. I lost about 10 pounds each time. This last year I kept up with some of the detox strategies throughout the year, like more raw foods, less sugars and wheat or corn, and I slowly lost another 16 pounds, less than a pound a week. I eventually had to buy new clothes, and I'm really happy with my progress. It sounds like your friend basically fasted for 30 days. I ate lots of fruits and veggies and fish and nuts and "weird" grains. I did slowly add back dairy, meat, wine, caffeine and wheat after the detox, but in smaller quantities. I think that's the real trick. Portion control. And I didn't get sick at all this year!
