Hi everyone,

I'm just starting the first week of the program now (I couldn't start earlier because i was travelling).
I want to get stuck right into the detox, but a lot of the recipes on the website call for making juices with a juicer. I don't have one and I can't afford to buy one...

I was wondering if anyone else was in the same position and what workarounds you used? I have a handheld blender which I use to make smoothies... maybe I could substitute a lot of the juices for smoothies with similar ingredients?

Any advice or tips much appreciated!

I am in the same spot as you with this, though a week later! I just did Days 1-3, so tomorrow I will start the 4-day detox with the smoothies. I am going to try the 3 that I can make in my blender, and hope that I like them enough to just rotate them over the course of the 4 days. How did you make out last week?
Hi Cathy,

In the end I did the detox without juices, I relied on smoothies. As it was only for 4 days, it was pretty easy. Also most of the smoothies recipes yield 2 servings, so I only really had to make 4 in the end!

Hope your detox went well!
Hi,

Try Odwalla juices at the grocery store. Or, Trader Joes has some green juices, but unfortunately some may have high fructose corn syrup or other sugary sweetener in them so read the labels. Lastly, if there's a Whole Foods or health food store in your area (or even a juice bar) they might be able to whip up some juices for you upon request, should you do the detox again.

Hope this will help.

Hi Robin,

Thanks for the suggestion. Thing is I'm a bit of stickler for making things myself, partly so that I know what goes into it but also because it's so much more affordable! I'm a grad student, so my finances wouldn't stretch to daily purchases of juices and smoothies.

However, I did come across a good work-around:

So now I am happily making my juices without spending any extra money on a blender! :)

Now I just wonder what to do with the pulp... it seems like such a waste to throw it out...
