For years, I've been exposed lady-mags and blogs, commercials and Oprah episodes about the willpower it takes to avoid the sweet office treats. They weren't kidding.
Nearly everyday, I receive an email blast from my co-workers: My daughter baked cookies with her baby sitter, cupcakes to combat the "Mondays," I stopped for some strudel on my way in... Worst of all, the designated dessert location is right next to my desk. Not only do I have to walk past the treats to go anywhere in the office, everyone passes by me in search of their sugar high. Even if I abstain, I listen to yummy noises all day!
I can't stop anyone from bringing in the bon bons, or indulging in them. How do you resist the notorious office temptation?

I find it is much harder to turn down a See's when someone politely offers it to me that when they are sitting unobtrusively across the room. I tend to tell people that I'm not really a chocolate person, which is true, but somehow the expectation of me not being into sweets makes me even less interested. Also, when I have black tea with milk in the afternoon, it goes really well with sweets (tea and cake, yum), but herbal or green doesn't so much - so I genuinely don't want anything else because then I'd have the whole toothpaste-and-orange-juice taste thing going on. That said, a little office cake now and again won't kill me.

I find when I'm offered treats as soon as I mention I'm gluten-free (which eliminates most baked goods) no one gives me a hard time. I know plenty of people who go "gluten-free" for a temporary time just to give the body a break from digesting the grains. One of my favorite treats is dark chocolate full of anti-oxidants, if you have your own healthy "treat" available, whether dark chocolate or a special tea you won't feel as deprived when you skip the sugary desserts (you'll also save the calories they are most likely loaded with).
