Signed up for GoGirl Sprint Triathlon in Indianapolis in late August. First-timer! Biggest challenge at this point is find a new "normal" after surgery for skin cancer.

Awesome, Kay, congrats on signing up! You have a great adventure ahead of you, and plenty of time to train. And such an inspiration to cancer survivors everywhere! If you have any questions or concerns throughout your training, we'll be here to help.

Anyone else out there? In what other races will the Whole Living community be representing?

Doing the Danskin on Sunday (wow, oh wow, I have not trained enough), the Sweet & Twisted in August (what insane people plan something outdoors in Texas in August???) and the Trek in October. Just want to not need a swim angel at one of these races. Sunday will not be that race. Maybe by August. And why the heck don't I lose weight with all the training I do? Ok, I'm not training hard enough, but you'd think that just from the time spent, I'd lose weight.....

So how did Sunday's race go, Becky? Sounds like you've got a busy summer of training ahead of you :) I'm also doing a tri in August (NYC) and dreading the heat -- it will be nothing like Texas, though, I'm sure.

Any swimming tips you can share with the group as you get stronger and more confident, I'm sure we'd love to hear them.

And that's a great idea for a future triathlon blog post -- losing weight and why it so often doesn't happen. (I hear that a lot from my triathlete teammates!) I'll add it to my list and will be sure to address it over the next few weeks.  Thanks!

I'm signed up to do my 4th Danskin triathlon in Sandy Hook this year!  It is such a wonderfully supportive women-only race. I'm also doing the Jersey Girl in early August and maybe SheRoxx at the end of August.  I'm a cyclist at heart and a strong swimmer - but I struggle with the run.  It is a constant struggle for me to make time to run...I run in a few 5k races throughout the year to make mini goals for myself.  Having a goal and completing it is the best feeling!!
Just finished the Danskin tri n Orlando!! So fabulous! Looking forward to sandy hook race...need to get training again !
I was just looking at photos on the Danskin site from the Orlando tri. Looked amazing!! Congrats on one down so far this summer.  NJ and Florida, huh? Do you travel a lot for races?
A friend and I are training for a trialthon that is happening in October but I may sign up for the Sandy Hook Tri on 9/11. I am new to running, so my biggest challenge right now is building up my endurance and working on my form. I already swim 1/4 mile a few times a week, so I'll be bumping that up to a 1/2 mile. A friend has offered her bike to me, so soon I'll have a bike, too! I also think my biggest challenge is myself! I let myself get in the way of finishing what I start...
Nancy, the run is my biggest challenge, too!  How is your training going?  Have you signed up for the race?  Hope you're doing well!
My friend signed me up for the Danskin Sprint Tri in Sandy Hook, as a birthday gift. Very excited! The running is getting better. I can do nearly 3 miles without stopping, just need to work on speed. :)

I agree with the running hurdle...doesn't come easy for me either. This will be my 4th year doing Danskin - Sandy Hook - very well run race!  Good Luck!

Just signed up for the Danskin tri in Palm Sprigs on Oct 9!  Became really motivated after reading your posts and even convinced two other friends to join me- we will have a great newbie group to support each other.

Can you provide further info (maybe in a future post) on nutritional and energy snacks & supplements- your experience, any recommendations, etc?
