HI everyone,
I have joined this group not because I have allergies to wheat gluten but because I want to have a better understanding of what people need {for food}with such allergies. I own a food specialty store and honestly, I want to do better in what my store offers. This is an area that more and more customers want in my store. What better place to start by taking this challenge. Thank you for letting me be a part and I hope none of you mind my questions which for sure will probably be niave.

Hi everyone. I'm new and am looking forward to joining in on conversations about gluten-free topics. I'm also hoping to get information on more recipes and places to buy the specialty foods for cooking gluten free. It's not so much for myself, but for my niece who needs gluten free. I'm hoping that I can get her to join one day as well! Thanks everyone!

Hello Everyone. I am new to this group. I have been on a gluten free diet almost 3 years. This diet has helped me so much. I have never felt better. I love to cook. I do all the cooking for my family. I am interested in helping people who are new to the diet and sharing gluten free recipes.

I have been gluten-free and diary-free now for three months. I am staying very close to my diet but I find I need to be real careful to read the ingredient labels. A couple of times I thought that a product didn't have gluten in it when in fact it did and I got pretty sick. My question is I've been drinking soy milk and eating soy yougurt too. Is soy bad to include in my diet?

Hi Judith, congratulations on being gluten and dairy free for three months! It is tough in the beginning, but you will get used to it. As for your question about soy being bad, try reading the article at this link. http://www.westonaprice.org/Soy-Alert/. I read this a while ago. There are also links to other soy articles at the end of this one. Good Luck.

Hi! I'm new here and thought I'd introduce myself. My Name is Stephey and I've been Gluten-Free now for over five years. A book I found to be helpful in truly knowing what is gluten and isn't (myth vs fact) was called Celiac Disease a Hidden Epidemic. You don't need to have Celiac to benefit from the book. Has anyone benefited from reading this book all ready? Know any other great books?

Hi nice to find this group. I have been gluten free since June 09, dairy and egg free since Feb, 2010. I had food allergies blood test done, and now my doc has me on a rotation diet. It does not include my worst allergens, dairy (goat & cow) eggs, ginger, kidney beans and navy beans. Weird. BUT...since going on the rotation my IBS symptoms are gone. 8 years of misery fixed by my wonderful nathuropathic doc.

Hi to all, This is a neat group, glad to be joining up, I know gluten free is not easy, I realy dont have anyone who I can talk to about my disease, I have had celiac sprue since birth, but did not want to go gluten free till I fell very ill, lost my balance, which meant, I felt as though I was drunk and the room was spinning, I found out my blood level was very low, and was not taking in any nutrition, I got real serious and started eating just basic foods, then I found that there were great gluten free foods bagels, breads, english muffins, cupcakes, cookies, most were very expensive, now I go to trader joes or whole foods, its so neat to eat normal foods, I even found a real neat bread mix, that I can bake & it comes out normal, I make french toast with it, I dont feel so inhibited, most gluten free stuff was gross, one of my favorite finds is in most grocery stores it is puffins cereal,it comes in different ones but I like cinnamon, my sister is not gluten free she even loves this one...I was always sickly due to eating normal foods, I would catch any thing going around and had sinus problems, my stomach was alway swollen and painful...I am now very healthy & happy...I have done so well, that, when I found a doctor that was a celiac specialist, he stated I never had celiac then I gave him my results from the biopsy in 1997 which showed how severe it was he was shook up... I am still learning and must read labels but there are some things even on labels that have gluten but has a strange names, I refer to celiac.com they have a complete list...sorry I am so long winded... happy to be a part of the group...

Hey everyone! I am new to the wholeliving site, my friend just introduced me to it but I am excited to find this group! I have had celiac for the past 3 1/2 years... I've adjusted pretty well and enjoy learning new recipes all the time as I do the cooking in our house. I'm from the Milwaukee area but moved to the Chicago area shortly after being diagnosed. Living near Chicago has been awesome as new places are adapting and creating gluten free dishes or separate menus.
