Hi-
I want to learn more about organic eating. I've started using organic fruits & vegetables for juicing but otherwise, have little experience. I'm new to this but want to learn.

For people wanting to learn more about organics, we have a great website in Canada: www.organic.ca which has a lot of information on it and interesting articles too.

Great site! Thanks for sharing the link. I have a small organic kitchen garden and that's where a lot of the produce that my family eats in the spring and summer comes from. It's amazing how many vegetables you can grow in a small space or even in pots.

Organics are often dauntingly expensive and for a large part of the population buying organics is not even an option, let alone buying much of anything with nutritional or environmental value. The truth is the cheapest foods have the least nutritional value. It's argued that the hidden high costs come in problems like diabetes and heart disease for example. But still, if you are poor the option is not there and there needs to be a lot more work done on making organics accessible to everyone and take away the elitism.

I agree that buying organics at the local grocery or specialty store can be expensive. I have found that my local farmer's markets and a local dairy are a great way to find and buy reasonably priced organic foods and milk. The notion of eating local (locavore style) seems to be gaining momentum. Buying good local organic food while helping to reduce carbon emissions, supporting small farmers and the local economy is a great win/win. The community impact that farmer's markets have is also very positive. Our Saturday farmer's market is a fun place for folks to gather while buying fresh breads, soups, fruits and vegetables.

Hi I'm new to the group. My husband and myself have started to become much more involved with buying and eating organic foods and meat. I have so many problems with eating foods that have chemicals in them. I haven't been able to eat beef for a long time now. However I have tired beef that is free-grange and I did finel. We don't shop very much in the regular food chains anymore. We do most of our shopping in our local farmers markets. But we have noticed that the foods we buy in our local farmer's style market are twice as much. Which cuts into our food budget. But we both feel that we just have to bite the bullet. We feel our health is more important then money.

I shifted my family to organic food in 1985. I'll never forget the day I tasted organic broccoli and bananas, the flavor was so fine! I cook 99% of our meals from scratch. If cooking or eating or making a phone call or whatever, feels like a struggle, I suggest you pivot your attention to something else. Anything that feels good. Life is supposed to feel good, be a deliberate creator of your reality!

Hello :
I started two maonts ago to eat organic foods and the taste is a lot better
than the non organic ones.
I agree that the cost is more but I feel healthy.

The cost is more than what? Can you be specific? I spend around $1K a month on groceries/food (that includes meals eaten out) - for two adults - 99.9% organic.
