I agree.   We lost our Barney, a black lab/golden retriever mix, to a fast-growing brain tumor.  He suffered from a horrible seizure on his last night, and we had to put him to sleep at the e-vet.

The next two nights, I had to come home from work at midnight to a lonely house.  Everyone else was already asleep.   I cried and cried.

Two days later, my husband let me go to the Milwaukee Humane Society to look at a German Shepherd mix.  He was so cute, I took him home with me.  It turned out that the other part of the mix was a Boston Terrier.

I may have saved him that day, but really, he saved me.  I was so sad and lonely, and he was so sweet.  He loves me, too.

Last spring, we looked for a companion for him.  We didn't have much money, so I looked on Craigslist.  I found a Border Collie mix and contacted his owner.  She wasn't fully truthful.

She met me at a pet store parking lot, shoved the dog into my car and sped off.

Turns out, he's deaf and un-neutered.  He paces constantly when he has to poop.  But he's just the sweetest thing and will sit or lie down and be petted for as long as we want to pet him.   He's quite the cuddler.]

I believe these dogs know that they were rescued and are so appreciative.   We love them so much.
