I need A LOT of motivation to get out and get running now that the weather in NYC has dipped from chilly to downright freezing. I just finished a level 1 running class and completed a 4 mile race in Central Park. Hope this group will help keep me running in the winter months.

Congrats Gerrie! I just did a four-mile race in Prospect Park in Brooklyn -- it's tough in this weather. Too cold in the beginning, too hot at the end! I am still working on figuring out the best way to dress / layer :) Thanks for joining the group ... hopefully we can get more activity going in January when we get new members!

Haven't quite figured out how to best layer during my runs either. Generally run more often in spring/summer, but I'm hoping I can stay motivated to run in the winter!

Hi,

I am unable to do my morning runs as it as pitch black at the times I can run outside. I have been trying to keep up on the Wii and through other types of exercise, but nothing does it like a run! I am going to try a treadmill starting tommorrow. Does anyone have any experience with easing the transition from regular outdoor running to using a treadmill?

Can't wait till March when I can strat running outside again

hello!
I need help finding a pre-run snack and post-run meal. I need something light, quick and easy on the stomach before. Then somthing easy and filling after my run that can be put in a lunch box, so I can take it with me when I leave the house. Any ideas?

Hi, I'm back to my training and I joigned a running club at Running Room, near my work place... so that right after work I'll meet all the members for a long run...

I'm so happy that I am returning to running after a long long break...

I'm training for my first marathon (in April) and am so excited. Despite the frigid temperatures, running in the winter has taught me that I can reach and achieve goals I set for myself.

congrats on training for your first marathon. i am not quite as ambitious as i am training for the disneyland half marathon in september. i've never been a runner, but started last year and completed my first 5k in november. fortunately, i live in southern california so am not faced with the weather restrictions most of you are, but sometimes it's still difficult to get motivated.

good luck to all. yay us.
