Mushrooms, the Supernatural Fungi

The idea of mushrooms as medicine is not very surprising since mushrooms are one of the oldest and most praised remedies throughout time. They are often classified as a vegetable or an herb but mushrooms are actually fungi.  Scientists found that women consuming at least a third of an ounce of cooked mushrooms every day are 64% less likely to develop cancer.  Although the test does not prove that eating mushrooms will stop cancer, there is evidence to suggest that mushrooms work in a similar…See More

The Power Of Chewing

I have made it a rule to give every tooth of mine a chance, and when I eat, to chew every bite thirty-two times. To this rule I owe much of my success in life. -William GladstoneChewingWhen it comes to increased health, it’s not just what we eat but how we eat. Digestion actually begins in the mouth, where contact with our teeth and digestive enzymes in our saliva break down food. But these days most of us rush through the whole eating experience, barely acknowledging what we’re putting in our…See More

New Year, New You...

True life is lived when tiny changes occur. -Leo Tolstoy   New Year, New You A lot of people begin the New Year by making resolutions. We've all been there. The How of Eating

We may be eating all the “right” foods while we overlook how we digest these foods.  Our digestive system tends to be neglected as we fixate on the pursuit for health through nutrition. A more positive impact of our food choices can be enhanced if we also pay some well needed attention to our digestion.Digestion begins when our body is anticipating food. The smell and the sight of food activate salivary glands and prepare the pancreas to release digestive enzymes. The time between sitting down…See More

There is more to life than increasing its speed.  -Gandhi  Get SlowWho doesn’t feel as if there aren’t enough hours in the day? We rush through the day, running here and there, and end up exhausted. Somehow these days full of duties, obligations and busyness have begun to build up and become our lives. We spend our time doing things we don’t really want to do, yet feel we should. We’ve come to believe that being productive and crossing things off our to-do list is the ultimate goal. The truth…See More

Treating High Blood Pressure Naturally

High blood pressure treatment isn't restricted to drugs. Natural treatments such as meditation and a healthy diet can have a considerable effect. Studies show that about 50 million adults in the United States suffer from high blood pressure. If high blood pressure is left untreated it can damage the kidneys and lead to stroke, heart attack and heart failure.  Heart disease and stroke are the first and third leading causes of death, in that order in the US.To eliminate high blood pressure it is…See More

Snacking With A Purpose

We love to snack...we snack at work, parties, on the train, in the car, pretty much we snack anywhere we can find food to nibble on. Regular snacking keeps the blood sugar levels constant and definitely helps prevent overeating later in the day, but of course the extent of these benefits does depend on the kind of food you put in your mouth.  For instance, a mid-morning donut or a candy rush at 3 pm does nothing for a healthy snacking routine but it well expand your belly fat, energy level and…See More

Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love.

-Rumi

Think for a moment of a food from your past, one that makes you feel great after you eat it for no specific reason. Maybe it is macaroni and cheese, slow-simmered tomato sauce, ice cream cones or potato pancakes. Eating comfort foods (every now and then) can be incredibly healing, even though your rational brain might not consider it highly nutritious.

Food has the power to impact us on a…

Greetings from the Tampa Bay :) My name is Lea, and I am the author of the Mother Baby Child Blog - http://motherbabychildblog.com. I started this blog to share my experience in having a baby just before my 1st son was about to turn 18 years old, as well as what life is like as a married mom after being single for so many years. I also blog about Christianity, baby and child stages, homeschooling, ADHD, Autism, Blog Marketing, etc. I share a lot on that blog during the non-summer seasons.

I also have a new healthy lifestyle and 90 day weight loss challenge blog -http://www.loseweightgethealthyfeelgreat.com - to accompany my Skinny Body business. I am working hard to complete the design of this new blog, so that I can provide valuable health and linformation, as well as my experience with our 90 day weight loss challenge. I gained quite a bit with this last baby, so I am struggling along with it. The plus is that we have gone all natural / organic foods and started an organic garden. It's lots of fun for the family, plus it's awesome to provide the children with food that I know is pesticide free.

I invite you to explore my blogs and provide your feedback.

Now that my baby is older, I have more time to meet more people that are genuinely interested in being as healthy as they can be. I am really excited about this!

I look forward to networking with you :)

Hugs & Blessings!
