Andriana Verdi commented on Eileen Ciluffo's blog post 'Sardines?...really?'
"My coworker to my left LOVES sardines. She brings them for lunch in salads, on top of quinoa, even pops open a can for a 4pm power snack on top of gluten-free crackers.  I know some people are grossed out by them, but she makes them look so…"

Andriana Verdi commented on Vicki Shimp's blog post 'Fourth week'
"Hi Vicki! I have the same problem with breakfast and usually end up eating peanut butter and sugar-laden jam on whole wheat toast, which gets very, very boring. I would try the kale egg sandwich in this post. You can cook the egg any way you want…"

"You can tweak this pomegranate tea recipe and it's delicious! Just trade green tea for white tea and honey for agave."

Andriana Verdi commented on Whole Living's blog post 'Hourglass Syndrome Stress: Not What You Think'
"i used to get really frustrated- the feeling is akin to being stuck in traffic, and you could say my reaction was similar to mild road rage. I'm not really sure when it happened, but I sort of stopped caring about the wait. It doesn't…"

Andriana Verdi commented on Terri Trespicio's blog post 'One Week, No Gossip'
"I'll do it with you! I can see the value in it, it feels good to be nicer and really there's almost no gossip that doesn't come back to bite you somehow. Does this count for celebrities, though? If so, you and I just broke the rule.…"

Andriana Verdi commented on Terri Trespicio's blog post 'Do It! Declutter. It's So Satisfying.'
"same! a majority of my jewelry is in a glass cup on my nightstand which means endless detangling of necklaces and bracelets any time I want to wear something (which is why I rarely change my jewelry). Organizing is so refreshing- making a place for…"

Andriana Verdi commented on Caitlin Losey's blog post 'Jamie Oliver's Tackles the Unhealthiest City in America'

Andriana Verdi commented on Elizabeth McGorty's blog post 'Act II, Scene 1: Life Sans Bread'
"I gave up bread and pasta for awhile. The bread part was easy since I'm not really into cold cuts, and anything else like chicken or veggies I'd rather eat sans the carb bumpers anyway. But being Italian, pasta was a whole other animal,…"

Occupation
Editorial Assistant
Hobbies/Interests/Activities
Right now, my biggest interest and hobby is figuring out how to fit in quick, but substantial workouts within tight time parameters. I'm trying different kinds of cardio, swimming again after a long hiatus, and looking to get into a yoga pattern.
Do you have any food allergies?
Lactose Intolerance
How do you stay active?
Running, Swimming, Other Cardio
How are most of your meals prepared?
I cook for two
What’s your proudest health-related accomplishment?
I never considered myself a runner, although I've played group sports my entire life. By sticking with it and making it a choice - not a requirement- I am finally enjoying running and supplementing it with other forms of cardio.
What's Your Whole Living Goal?
My goal is to feel healthier, stronger, and that my body is working correctly- not slowed down by lack of exercise and bad food. I want to know that I am doing everything I can to give myself the best chance of long term health. I want to feel like I take care of myself.

Spring Fever

Posted on March 17, 2010 at 5:47pm 1 Comment

I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in NY, it feels like May.

^ The city doesn't quite look like this yet, but it's around the corner!

Ok, maybe not May but spring is certainly here- at least for this week, I'm sure we'll get pummeled by a nice Easter snowstorm or something. Either way, it feels so SO good to be outside and not bundled under layers, or…

To Eat or Not to Eat- Not Really A Question

Posted on January 27, 2010 at 10:50am 1 Comment

So I came into work this morning ready to take on the day. It's sunny out, not overly cold, and the middle of the week, which means we're a safe distance from Monday. I had a cup of tea and granola for breakfast and a banana. I felt full and awake. Then I sat down to my computer and my email is not sending or receiving messages. To make matters worse, our art director has put out a lovely display that he calls "The Candy Buffet".… Read more

The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of bigger...arms?

Posted on January 20, 2010 at 6:13pm 1 Comment

I have always been very against weight training. Blessed - or cursed - with naturally muscular arms and legs (at least compared to the women of my family), my gym time has always focused on blasting the fat off my muscles, not enlarging them. When forced to lift for lacrosse in high school, I begrudgingly did it with the fear that my arms would blow up and make me look like those crazy (oiled up) body builders. Of course, the training was never even remotely intense enough to conjure those… Read more

An Ode to Summer

Posted on January 14, 2010 at 1:55pm 1 Comment

Last sunday, on the way home from an early dinner (I ordered a salad with grilled chicken and figs- soo good!), I encountered the most beautiful sunset I've seen in a long time- and I lived with a beach as my backyard last year. The sky was glowing the most incredible shades of pink and orange, and somehow the lazy, wispy clouds were lavender. If one looked above the bare, netlike mess of the tree branches, it almost seemed like a mid-summer sunset. That got me thinking, and then missing, and… Read more
