AUDRIS!!! Wow I was thinking about you this week -- with the Plan gearing up -- and wondering how you were. I'm so glad you're back and blogging! I've missed you! Best wishes for 2011 -- as we continue down the path. xoxo

Very inspiring!  So I think you nailed it for me - it's been difficult for me to understand why this program is so appealing to me and I know this sounds silly but it never occurred to me that I needed to plan and take the time…

Thank you!  That was a lovely comment to read.  I wasn't sure if I should come back and be all "look at me!" but at the same time I think helping others find some hope and inspiration is as gratifying as achieving it…

One Year Later

Ah, New Year’s Eve.  A year ago, I was looking over the Whole Life Action Plan and thinking, what the hell have I gotten myself into, agreeing to blog?  I was hopeful and excited, a little anxious wondering what I was supposed to write about, if I was going to be able to do “it” right, and that “it” could have been anything from detoxing for four days, to not embarrassing myself in this blog, to…See More

Hi Chaya -- if you check out Dr. Junger's book Clean, you'll see you can go a little longer on strict detox, up to 4 weeks. I'm finding that even post official detox, I still really love the way I feel if I have a smoothie instead of…

Well, it is an investment...but consider a trainer. I did--and I tell you, following an adorable young thing around the gym is a great way to stay interested in strength training!

This was my husband’s idea of support during the Plan:

But to be fair, this was also:

He didn’t do the Plan with me, and that’s for the best. I don’t like being nagged, and if he’d cheated, I would have too. But he did listen when I whined about how hungry I was, how much I hated my last post, how I didn’t have time to meditate. I’m pretty sure he’s glad it’s almost over, despite the Plan’s… Read more

Taking Time to Recharge

Posted on January 28, 2010 at 1:00pm 3 Comments

My Christmas tree is still up.

That’s my 5-year-old in front of it. As these posts wind down, I felt like she needed to make an appearance!

Nearing the end of Week 4, I have indeed made soup (butternut squash, which came out very well, yay!) and went to hot yoga (which was just yoga in a hot room. I think I was expecting something more … primal.) I have journaled, eaten well, reflected, and focused on gratitude. And I have been… Read more

Discovering, Rediscovering, and Renegotiating

Putting this list together was very enjoyable, taking stock of all that went well these past few weeks.

{My very first meal on the Action Plan! Like Leah, I love the mango smoothie.}

Definitely carrying forward:

Detox! It was definitely a knock-you-down, grit-your-teeth challenge some days, particularly early on during coffee… Read more

I'm not sure why Whole Living isn't allowing me to comment on your actual post (?), so I'll comment here. Re: Stress Management -- OMG the chart is amazing! I fully endorse this practice! Structure is important, I treat The Plan with the same logic. I'm sorry you don't feel entirely at east at home -- it reminded me of that commercial of the two kids quietly working at the table with their Mom looking on and when she hears Daddy pulling up she throws around flour and plates and after he walks in she says, "I just need an hour." Is there a room in your house you can go to and be undisturbed? Virginia Woolf style -- A Room Of One's Own.

You are amazing, hanging on to this detox despite a plethora of disasters. Keep it up! (And enjoy the potstickers at your daughter's birthday party).

Hello! Thanks for your comment last week ~ I am finally feeling better, but I haven't been able to kick my cough/fatigue just yet... I will be substituting chicken soup/broth for a few things this week ;) Are you feeling better yet?
