Jane and I had a lovely girls' weekend while Theo went to a concert in Chicago. We were so busy playing and cleaning and re-organizing closets and walking and errands that I hardly thought about eating the whole time.

I am a perfectionist at heart and I hate to fail. Late last night, I completed caved over a cup of vanilla ice cream and I have been brooding about it ever since. There is no one harder on me than me. Vanilla ice cream!?! That's what I ended up with after all that restraint and will power! Yes, because it was there and I was mad and I felt defeated and I thought it would make me feel better.

I did really well all weekend, in terms of eating and managing stress. I actually read 60 pages of a book, for pleasure. I took an hour nap both days, while Jane was napping. This instead of cleaning and straightening or e-mailing or calling people. I sincerely needed the down time this weekend.
I am still amazed that I am not craving sugar the way I used to. Last night, on date night, I walked by at least five gelato places…

At about 4:30 today, I completely maxed out. I was toast. All set. All done. Fried. It looked like it had been beautiful day outside and I missed it. I was cooped up, frustrated, and short on temper. I could feel it - I was ramping up to melt down.
