Yum, Terri, that sounds amazing! I love toasted nuts. And I should try to eat more flaxseed.

YUM kale! I love it in any form -- roasted as chips, sauteed, cooked in soups... so good. And cheap! :)

Oh--and a friend of mine turned me onto this. Add to your steel-cut oatmeal: -dried currants, cranberries -oven-roasted nuts (almond slivers, pecans, pumpkin seeds--just throw on a pan and roast for a few mins at 350 -cinnamon, a pinch of turbinado…

Good for you!!! I admire you for sticking with it - I have a lot of chocolate in my room, and while I don't eat it every day, I have days where I end up eating way too much at once. Also I must second Sarah's suggestion of frozen grapes -…

Audris -- so glad you liked the cabbage! We can't get enough of it. And Mariana, I'm used to subbing tofu or beans for meat in many recipes! As for those fritters, what exactly is a courgette?

Ops, sorry, Leah. I didn't realize you didn't eat meat. My bad! May I recommend Nigella's courgette fritters to make up for my blunder yesterday?

I’ve been trying to tone my arms for years. Pushups, chest presses, tricep dips, etc – it’s all in my repertoire. And every few months or so I get depressed that I’m not seeing any changes, give up, and come back to it a week or two later, ready to try again, with more weight or less weight and more reps or just more of something that will give me some sort of definition – anything! But nothing seems to work.

And then one day this summer, I realized why. I was sitting there with my… Read more

Week 4! I almost can’t believe it. It hardly seems like we’ve been doing the Challenge for three weeks already!

The hardest thing for me by far has been conquering my cravings – sugar is a powerful drug, my friends. But I have found it immensely helpful to keep a food journal and to reflect each day on my… Read more

I am drinking my breakfast as I write this post – I am still in love with those mango-avocado smoothies from Week 1!

I mentioned a few posts back that I had found Jillian Michael’s 30-Day Shred workout at my local library. Well, the dvd has already been returned (we only get a… Read more

Mindful Eating and Homemade Coffee Scrubs

I may be the odd one out, but I really don’t like showering. My husband LOVES showers and takes long, hot ones every morning. Me, I’m in, I wash, I’m out. That’s it. That being said, I was intrigued by the idea of a coffee body scrub in the at-home spa feature on Body and Soul. I’m always looking for things to make showering less of a chore, and… Read more
