Whose idea was it to detox in January - the coldest month of the year!?

Ok, if it was Martha....forgive me....I adore you Martha! but this is terrible! It's winter and all I want is pork roast, red cabbage and potato dumplings and all I get is brown rice, coconut milk and a kale/carrot/pear juice and some sunflower seeds. I usually eat heavy in the winter and my excuse is that I have to keep warm somehow?! So, depriving myself in the dead of winter (and a particularly freezing cold one at that) is pure HELL! How do you Northerners manage this detox thing? What was…See More

New Motivation

I am going to try to do this again this year. Last year I lasted about a day! I did , however, incorporate drinking teas (sometimes herbal sometimes black or green) on an almost daily basis. So at least one good healthful habit came out of it! But if I say I AM going to do this, I know it won't work so I am simply "trying" to do it. So far I'm not doing it "perfectly", but that's ok because it's better than not at all, right?I have new motivation to really try hard to do this because my mother…See More

Fitness Test Flunky

Posted on January 9, 2010 at 10:00pm 0 Comments

I finally attemped the fitness test - a few days late, but who's counting?

I first went for a brisk 30 minute walk outside as I said I would and brought my camera along and took a picture of the Eastern Screech owl sunning himself in the doorway of his house located in a neighbor's tree. I'm a sucker for the wildlife, what can I say.

So....when I returned I attempted fitness test #! - Cardio: pathetic - I was in the poor… Read more

Good Morning!

ok - no coffee today! I substituted a pot of tea - Jasmine Tulsi mixed with one green tea bag - green tea is supposed to be good for detox so I figured it was ok (I hope) so I get a LITTLE caffeine but far better than coffee I'm sure. I like to mix ginger slices with my herbal tea and today I threw in a couple cardamom pods too - sooo good! sweetened with just a little agave syrup to take the edge off. fortunately I do love tea - I just love coffee more.

I did make the… Read more

today is better!

I admit I had coffee in my morning stupor, but only 1/2 cup - I am reducing. Aside from that I have only had the mango smoothie and I just ate some sunflower seeds and the remaining 1/4 avocado (since the recipe only called for 1/4 - what else was I supposed to do with it?). I did consume both servings of the smoothie however ;) I did not even eat lunch. I plan to make fresh wild caught tuna for dinner if I can find the sesame tuna recipe. I did not get any sea bass… Read more
