Nikki Clark commented on adriann's blog post 'Dealing With the Grief of Loss - When a Pet Is Your Child'
"Our dog died very unexpectedly a few years ago.  I was very sad, but my son, who is an only child and considered Rufus to be a brother rather than a pet, was devasted.  Three years later he still keeps his picture by his bed, and…"

Dealing With the Grief of Loss - When a Pet Is Your Child

My last two weeks have been very difficult to bare. After coming back from a week away from home, I came back to a very sick kitty. Roo, my sweet little boy has been with me for more than fifteen years. He has been with me through good times, and has often been my only affectionate support through some really bad times. After a week…See More

A LIGHT LUNCH TO KEEP ME GOING

It is Valentine’s Day, and the plans for my day are not allowing me a lot of time to stop and eat. Having a lot of things to get done also prohibits having any kind of meal that might weigh me down and make me sleepy. I wanted something filling and yet refreshing. I had this particular tostada at a restaurant here in…See More

Eileen Ciluffo commented on adriann's blog post 'Why Does PMS Make Me Eat EVERYTHING?'
"I had the same problem this week, and I'm supposed to be in menopause, but I still feel the hormonal swings. I ate Doritos, chocolate, wine and cinnamon toast crunch right out of the box! (Not all at the same time!) and I have been SO good…"

Why Does PMS Make Me Eat EVERYTHING?

My body is puffy and achy. Emotions are a little frazzled. And cravings! What can I say about cravings?!I think that 'salty' is what my body craves most at this time of the month. I know some people want sweets - especially chocolate. But for me it's salty, tart, tangy. During the January detox, food didn't really appeal to me. I blame the flu for that. Carbs weren't really an issue. I just didnt want to eat. I can even say that for February (so far), I haven't been craving carbs that much…See More

I Don't Want to Look Like An Umpa Lumpa!

Ok - I have always been a fan of DIY spa treatments. I have been whipping up nourishing hair treatments from the kitchen since before I was 20. I love pulling natural ingredients together for a scrub, or a 'tea' for the bath, or making some type of moisture enhancing mask for the face and body. However, when it comes…See More

Toenail Polish, a Glass of Wine, and a Brownie

Yes, after going naked for the month of January, my toes are once again enjoying the glory of polish. I have missed color on my feet! I know that it was healthy for them to have a real breather, so I do not begrugde them the time off. January was a great moment of.... a deep cleansing breath. I always enjoy the focus of January - mindful eating, mindful action, mindful thinking. It puts me in the frame of mind of possibilities - starting a new year. I did however miss my toenail polish and a…See More

Healthy Cravings Do A Body Good

Posted on February 20, 2011 at 12:27pm 0 Comments

Cravings do not always have to be for bad things. Yes, sometimes I do find myself craving something sweet, or salty, cheesy or even fatty (can you say chili dog?). However, my body also has intense cravings for other things as well. Good things. I am grateful that I have these urges. It tells me…

A Healthy Supper With Turkey Meatloaf

Posted on February 19, 2011 at 10:35pm 0 Comments

Meatloaf is definitely a comfort food. For me at least. I do not make it very often, but when I do I usually make some mashed potatoes and cook something that is bright green - broccoli or spinach. I was recently in the need of some classic comfort and decided to lighten up the meatloaf with some…
