Starting Month 2

Tomorrow I start month 2 on the Whole Life Action Plan.Other than 1 day when I splurged to the point of discomfort on peanut butter & almond butter, I think I did quite well. I learned not to allow myself to get too hungry (hunger caused the splurge), & that detoxing has its limits for each individual -- don't go overboard. Life is not black or white. Learn to live in the middle -- in moderation.I have been having digestive symptoms (& other symptoms that wax & wane) for quite a…See More

"MMmm, that trail mix sounds good. DId you notice a difference in how you feel or how your body reacted to adding soy back in? Or gluten? Was it a shock to your body after going for so long without?"

Detox Done

Sunday I ended my detox & not one moment too soon! Yesterday, Monday, March 8, I introduced soy which I'm having 2x/day for 3 days to see how I feel. I made scrambled tofu with veggies for breakfast, seasoned boiled tempeh for lunch, & I'm making marinated tofu for dinner tonight. I don't feel too good, but I don't know if soy has anything to do with it. Thursday I bring in the gluten. I will be careful to have gluten at least 2x/d for at least 8 days, at which point I will get a biopsy…See More

I Lost It

I woke up Friday morning (19th day detoxing), had an Energy Smoothie with ground flaxseeds mixed in before 7 a.m., did a little housecleaning, went to my yoga class & then to the sauna, walking about 2 miles. Starved when I came home, I had a can of kipper snacks on a bed of raw baby spinach with lemon, & later, a small handful of almonds & an apple as a snack. I was not feeling grounded, I was hungry on this 19th detox day, I hadn't slept well & not enough night after night,…See More

A Long Detox

Responding to Caitlin, I chose a 3-week detox to get as clean as I can. My understanding is that Dr. Junger states that up to 4 weeks of detox is fine. Also, I can get a better reading on possible food allergies &/or intolerances after I add certain foods after the detox. First I plan to add soy 2x/day for 3 days. After 3 days I will know whether I am O.K. with soy. Then a good dose of gluten comes next after which I will get a good reading on whether or not I have a problem with gluten…See More

Detox Week 3

Hi Everyone,Tomorrow I start week 3 of detox. It will be my final week before I transition into wider food choices. It has been going well so far. I've continued to avoid the excluded foods & I follow the detox recipes in the Whole Body Action Plan. Recently I made lemon-saffron millet pilaf which is much more satisfying than plain millet. The vegetables & herbs & lemon juice & even zested lemon enrich the dish with flavor & color & texture along with taste. The same is…See More

Herbs

Thank you, Amanda, for your feedback & your encouragement.Herbs are fantastic! They are rich in antioxidants and they are anti-inflammatory. And they make food taste yummy with virtually no added calories. And fresh herbs are ideal.I cook only for myself. After I buy herbs, I use a small amount in the recipes I follow, which means that the rest goes bad, & I end up wasting a lot. Herbs are worth the price but not when wasted. So I use a lot of dried herbs which are second best. Right…See More

Detox Continuing

Hi All,I'm continuing my detox into the 2nd week. Today was a tough day. I had the energy smoothie for breakfast. I took a fitness class, then I went to the far-infra red sauna. I came home & found a leak under my sink. At that point I was starving! By the time I ate my quinoa salad with toasted almonds, it had been about 7 1/2 hours since I had the smoothie. I wanted to binge on a lot of food but I restrained myself. I'm O.K. now. I just made some blanched kale which I will eat with ground…See More

Continuing Detox into Week 2

Thank you, Audris, for your informative response to my last blog. I will continue to detox into week 2 which starts tomorrow.Today I made cucumber soup with mint (not chilled--some of these recipes are clearly not made for the dead of winter), stir-fried veggies and chicken with buckwheat noodles, & fennel & apple juice (yum).Perhaps I will buy Dr. Junger's book. Has anyone found it helpful?I have been walking at least 2 miles/day. I did yoga 2x & had a weight workout once.I wish…See More

Week 4 Whole Life Action Plan

Well, it's the 4th day of week 4 of me being on the Whole Life Action Plan. I integrated soy the first 3 days of week 4 (also some chocolate, in that I made a trail mix of nuts & seeds & dried wild blueberries & cacao nibs, & used the mix for snacks for those 3 days).

Now I'm integrating gluten. I'm eating a macrobiotic diet for the most part. I have a large platter delivered every day out of which I make 2 meals, & I make my own macrobiotic breakfast, although…
