in uncertain times

Posted on April 5, 2011 at 9:30am 2 Comments

This year seems full of uncertainties for me. Small disruptions to my predictable routine have made me think good and hard about the importance of riding the wave, rolling with the punches, and appreciating the present. As always, we are thinking about moving to a new apartment, so that lends itself to a bit of anxiety: where will we live? how will we pack? would it be better to stay put? will we like a new place better? My…

any tips on lunch-time exercise? (plus a round-up of post workout essentials)

Posted on March 3, 2011 at 1:30pm 2 Comments

Today's challenge is to get outside for a break during the work day. Which I love doing. But I've got a few questions for you, I'm in need of a bit of advice. Going for a walk on my lunch break is easy enough, and barring extreme weather conditions is a nice escape from the work day.  During the frigid, icy winter I… Read more

a helpful distraction

It's been a busy few weeks, which makes me even more grateful when I am able to set aside some time to put away the to-do list, stop trying to tidy up and allowing uninterrupted hobby time. I haven't been sewing as much as I'd like lately but I gave myself the chance to sit down at my Husqvarna on a day off last week. Sewing is a great therapy for me, but not in the same meditative way that knitting or crocheting can be.  You can't curl up on…

off the treadmill & back outside

Posted on February 14, 2011 at 2:30pm 1 Comment

I love running on the treadmill. The sweaty people next to you, the stale air, the boredom. Wait a second, it turns out I don't like the treadmill. It can be a safe and convenient alternative to dark winter runs, though, so I endure the agony that is treadmill running. And every once and awhile, I actually enjoy it. It's the only time when I run with my ipod and I love cranking up the guilty pleasures pop songs on my running…

Profile Information

Occupation
I work at an affordable housing and community development non-profit.
Hobbies/Interests/Activities
My name is Christine and I'm the creator of the blog & design studio, Unspeakable Visions.

On my blog, I try to showcase the simple pleasures in my twenty-something life-- from homecooked meals to handcrafted creations and my favorite photos. This blog is a place where I thoughtfully appreciate the small things and seek to connect with other like-minded guys & gals. I update several times a week with carefully chosen photos and words in hopes of conveying my sense of gratitude, excitement and curiosity about the world.

I am also the designer behind the small-scale, home-based studio by the same name, Unspeakable Visions. Through my shop, I hope to join the ranks of creators that encourage the enjoyment of simple pleasures through handmade goods. My collections are thoughtful, deliberate, and limited. Each item is made with quality materials and careful craftsmanship to create a lasting heirloom. For more information, visit the official website or browse my shop at Etsy.

From nine-to-five though, I work in the world of affordable housing and community development. I also serve as a volunteer and Board member at my local Habitat for Humanity chapter. In my spare time outside of that field, I like to imagine a life filled with freshly baked bread, shiny bicycles, microbrews, tea luncheons, gardens, mountains, lakes, ice cream, books, 1970s kitchenware, dinner parties & good music.

Hey girl! Thank you for the recipe! I tried last night, but wasn't entirely successful -- discovering the hard way that, uh, a blender and a food processor are NOT the same thing, ha ha ha. The kitchen smelled scrumptious, though! I am so impressed by your homemade peanut butter! You've inspired to make some of my own!
