Be. Sleepy
An amazing month is coming to an end and as we sit at the edge of this shift from one moment to the next, from January to February may you allow yourself to be sleepy. No need to try too hard to hold the moment, simply allow it to be,shifting, unfolding, moving in, to and through being a new moment, a new month of unlimited possibilities, of unlimited opportunities to continue resolving to BE your best self.…

Yippie Family - Day 6 = Big Fat Quitter
We did it okay, we quit! I have to let all of you people know and note in this blog of my personal history that I am a loser. I really thought I could make it two weeks, a mere 14 days. I made it 6. We called a truce with yippie friends late last night. None of us could take it a day longer. We called pumpernickel (our code word for wanting out or cheating). Yippie dad kind of had a decent excuse, his stomach was revolting but I am just plain weak. My main reason for quitting was…

Here I am at Day-29. The 28-Day Challenge is officially over and I'm still motivated to keep on going. I woke up and pulled My Plan up to see what was on the menu for breakfast. …

The End - Nope, Just the Begining
Made it through the challenge and learned so much. Even though I haven't done everything perfectly - I have created some great habits. I have a smoothie with whey protein every morning, salad for lunch and a good dinner. Where I have fallen short is on the exercise portion of this journey. I just can't get myself to overcome anything (sore knees, achy head, busy schedule, too tired) to make it to the gym. I walk the dogs twice/day but I know that's not enough.
So my continuing…

Well, here we are at the end of the 28-Day Challenge. But, for me I feel like (and am hoping like hell) that it is just the beginning.
A few successes from these past weeks:
-there is very little processed food that goes in my mouth and into the mouths of my kids
-I tend to skip the interior aisles in the grocery store
-I'm reading food labels like it's my job
-I'm drinking much more water than before and actually crave it
-I still have not had…

Be. Love
"Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, 'You owe me'. Look what happens with a love like that! It lights the whole sky." Sufi Poet, Hafez
Love, what an amazing force, one which creates, brings forth, opens the doors of darkness and allows the light…

Something about midwinter makes me want to do a full-blown redecorate of my house, but that can't happen for a couple of reasons: one-I live in an apartment complex that is really restrictive about what you can do to your space and two-budget.
I've re-arranged the furniture and then put most of it back in its original location. My splurge: going to the antique/flea markets and setting a limit of $5 per place. Yes, 5$. I…

Sunday, and I going for happy
Sunday. The end of a week or the beginning of a new one. That's debatable. I always used to think of it as the beginning, or is it Monday that marks the beginning of the new week? This is something to ponder, just as yin and yang, exiting and entering, ending and beginning, are all at once opposites and so much the same. And, the way we view these parts of our lives is relevant.
My typical Sunday. Clean, catch up on email, laundry, grocery shopping, cook, pay bills. The…

Pomegranate & Orange Creamsicle Pie
This recipe was inspired by fresh California fruits pomegranate and cara cara oranges. A delicious and light coconut & brazil nut crust is a great accompaniment to the sweet & tart filling. Freshen up your winter with this fruity citrus pie.
As a raw food recipe, this requires some new techniques and thinking outside the box. Some of the ingredients may be difficult to find locally, but are available online to purchase. Lucuma, maca and camu camu may be unfamiliar,…

I am truly excited today! After talking myself out of, and putting off, starting the 28 day Action Plan, I am starting tomorrow! I want to thank all the people who commented on my post, you gave me exactly what I asked for...Motivation!
I was up bright and early (because unfortunately, my body doesn't like to stay asleep past 7:30) and ready to head to the store by 8:30. I love grocery shopping in the morning before all the crowds come out, it's very relaxing for me. I…

RAW!
I'm on a two week challenge with yippie dad and another insane couple. We all became vegetarians at the same time and decided it was time to turn things up a notch. We have goneRAW!!! I'm not talking 50 or 75% raw, I'm talking full blown no tea or coffee or anything that helps you function like a normal person. We are on Day 4 and baring our souls and battling addictions that we didn't know existed.

Is it really Day-27? How can that be? You see? It wasn't so awful afterall, was it? And just look what I got for it- I lost weight, I built muscle, I lowered my blood pressure and I increased my energy. I'd say it was worth it!
It really is amazing to think about all that I've gained with just 4-weeks of conscious effort. And that's all it took - Four weeks! I'm starting to think that maybe all my previous New Year's attempts at losing weight were doomed from the…
