I keep waking up!

This whole week I have been thinking about waking up. Not that physical kind of waking up, although I have been waking up with more physical energy then I have had for a while. Maybe that is related to my physically reawakening my body and making myself walk every 90 minutes whether I like it or not. It hurts and sometimes I can’t wait to get back to my chair, however, I know this is all good and it is all about my intentional journey to wholeness. My physical wellness was one of those areas…

What Kind of Dermatologist are You?

Prior to being diagnosed with lupus, I was in extreme pain on my scalp and in my head.  I felt as if someone was driving nails into my skull.  The worst part was the hair loss.  Now I know that stress plays a huge factor in the onset of a lot of illnesses.  But I was invincible, or so I thought…

Back in 2004, my life was falling apart.  Stress had reached its pinnacle.  I was close to divorce; my father had been very sick and was soon diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.…

Looking in more then one place

I have been thinking some more about the quote from Basho though I reflected on last week. Matsuo Basho, a Japanese Haiku poet, once wrote, “When journeying upon the path of wisdom, do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought. Seek the meaning behind their footsteps, and not upon the steps themselves. For in seeking the footsteps you shall be glancing only upon the next footprint. And you’re sure to stumble upon an unforeseen obstacle. But in seeking the meaning…

Resistance to Resistance Training is Futile

For years, the picture of resistance training has been the muscle-head guy in the weight room. The truth is, we all need to do some weight lifting (body or external) twice weekly to add lean mass and to protect our bones.

You can do a circuit of 10 exercises, twice per week, to work your full body and increase your bone mineral density. A woman will lose an average of half a pound of muscle each year if she does not strength train. Loss of muscle mass means an increase in fat…

Energy of Spring: 5 Ways to Connect

There's something about spring that makes you feel alive and awake. With the added boost of sunshine and light there are many ways we can celebrate and incorporate the cycles to support our well-being, and it is important to be mindful of this opportunity to rejoice and renew.

Celebrated as the Return of Light, the vernal equinox highlights the point where the days and nights are of equal length, with the days continuing to build in length and the nights shortening…

Gallbladder attacks - How you can Lessen the Pain?

The most awful bad dream of just about every individual affected by gall bladder issues could be the gallbladder symptoms. You can openly declare that it really is their problem. Top of the suitable area of the stomach could be the place exactly where the discomfort generally starts and it can propagate to the back and between the shoulder area. The most frequent signs of the gallbladder attack are vomiting and…

Judgement Free

from my blog: wonderofallthings

The wind shifted from yesterday’s brisk North wind to a warm South wind, but still maintained its constant 30 mph assault. It was the car to and from work for me today.

I can deal with many things…but not a constant, pressing wind. Or rather, I choose not to.

With temps in the 60′s, I felt a little sheepish not walking or biking today. In fact, when I got home and…

New Year's resolutions update

I have failed on my ‘realistic’ New Year’s resolutions. My yoga mat is still rolled up next to the couch. Some days I still ‘forget’ to drink my four glasses of water and I gulp down a Pepsi. And that procrastination thing I originally mentioned? I’m working on it. (Future employers, I meet all my deadlines, so let’s not get it confused!)

But the good news is, I can climb the 2,000 steps on campus without huffing and puffing by the time I get to class, eliciting smirks and…

Barbecue Lentils(?)

I have to start by saying - barbecue lentils is not something I would ever think of making. I came across the idea in an email I received from Food52. I was intrigued. I'm always looking for new things to do with beans and lentils, places to go beyond the patty. And sometimes I really like a pulled pork sandwich.

Side note - I'm pretty sure any of the recipes can be adjusted to produce a sauce in…

Botanical Formula Fights Prostate Cancer Without Toxic Side Effects

A non-toxic botanical formula controls aggressive human prostate tumors in mice, according to a peer-reviewed study in the The International Journal of Oncology. Researchers at Indiana University, Methodist Research Institute, revealed that this formula significantly suppresses tumor growth in aggressive, hormone-refractory (androgen-independent) human prostate cancer cells. This study is a milestone in the research of this formula, demonstrating its safety and effectiveness in treating…

Life After 50-My Road Trip in a Red Convertible

There are many milestones in life for a woman—first date, engagement & marriage, becoming a mother and sending her little ones off to school. But nothing compares to the “perfect storm” that brews when you turn 50, you are experiencing the “empty nest,” and you are going through peri-menopause all at once. No…

Love Or Business? – Love Is Good Business

Have you heard this before? “Love or Business, you have to choose.”  The message is direct – you have to decide what you value more, something/one you love or your work/business. Actually, there is a more factual statement

Love is Good…

Can Confidentiality Agreements Affect Your Portfolio?

I have been asked this question numerous times. There are two answers: yes and no. That is probably not what you wanted to hear, however it is often true. When working with the federal government, attorneys, accountants and high-level corporate executives, it can be an issue when trying to build a portfolio. Unfortunately it means you may not be able to mention your accomplishments for these clients in writing or on the internet.

So what can you do when a confidentiality agreement…

Because I am

I learned this amazing lesson the other day. Sometimes there is nothing to say. Sometimes there is nothing to feel. Sometimes there is nothing to express. Sometimes when I become thoughtful and quiet people want to know what is wrong with me. Sometimes it is just where I am. Recently, someone asked me why I was being so quiet and I said because I am. They were upset with me and left because I did not give them the explanation they desired. I guess because I am might not have given them what…

Where do you live?

This past week, I have had a chance to talk with a wide diversity of people with differing attitudes about life. Some of them seem to be living in a garden where life is blooming and others seem to be living in a minefield where they are waiting for the next bomb in life to go off. So where are you living? Are you living in a garden, a minefield, or a prison? Minefields are loaded with bombs hidden under the terrain. When one steps on a mine, you can be blown up by bombs of worry, doubt,…

Recharging Your Batteries

It's been just over a week since the half marathon. We're starting to recover physically, which is nice. I've been mixing up my workouts to add some variety and to rest my primary running muscles. Last week was weights, yoga, pilates, and some light cardio. On Saturday, my husband and I did a short swim workout and then a short bike ride later in the afternoon. Since we're training for a triathlon (!), we need to get in the pool more often. This morning, I went to a 5:45am cycling class to…
