Opposites Attract
We’ve all heard that saying but how many of us can really relate to it? I’ve come to realize over time that I can completely relate to this. My husband and I have a very strong and happy marriage even though I think we are polar opposites. We do have many similarities such as hobbies etc but when it comes to our personalities we are total opposites.
I have always been a pretty anxious, easily stressed out, high strung person. I’m also highly motivated when it comes to work and school…

Herbal Essence: No, not the Shampoo
A former professor once told that the way to entice people to read your blog or peak their interest in your sermon was to come up with a catchy title. So if you are reading this, then hopefully that means my title worked. I was playing with the tile “parsley, sage, rosemary, and time”, but decided I liked Herbal Essence better because it really got at the essence of what I have been thinking about this week: herbal essence. There was a time (not thyme), when I never used fresh herbs and…

How often can I use gripe water?
Gripe water is provided to newborns for many generations as being an acknowledged practice, and also modern culture appears to have considered that as a healthy study course of order. We are confident many of us hardly ever pause and take into consideration the good and bad points of giving gripe water that will help toddlers. For instance, all the elements that are being used in the production or even if there can be virtually any dangerous adverse reactions of the identical or any other…

For A Season
Last night, my women's small group met again after a brief hiatus. We all had so much catching up to do, because so much had changed in our lives since our last meeting in April.
Isn't it amazing how quickly things change in such a short amount of time during certain seasons of life?
This is a group of women (with the exception of one who joined us in January) that I met in March 2011 during our first team meeting for the trip we took to Haiti last June. We've…

The Walmart Challenge
Walmart has decided to challenge shoppers to bring their receipts from local grocery stores into Walmart to see how much they could save purchasing the same items. I'm glad that Rebecca was able to save 19% at Walmart; I assume she has children and she's trying to feed her family on a budget. There's nothing wrong with wanting to save dollars where you can.…

Tired Fitness
I didn't sleep very well last night, so this morning, I was moving a bit slower than normal. And slower than I wanted to move. I had great visions last night of jumping out of bed, into a short run and a TRX workout.
In reality, I made it to the coffee maker, had a cup, and then got into my TRX workout after my husband left for work. It was a good workout, about 45 minutes long, and did what it needed to do: strengthen my body. I refueled with some Sunwarrior oatmeal with…

You are the answer to your prayer
Recently I read someone’s blog where they spoke about how they were waiting for God to hear and answer their prayers. As I read it, I had this image of God as a virtual assistant. Then I had this kind of comedic conversation going on in my head. “God, thank you for checking in this morning. Listen, this is what I need you to do for me. I need you to find a job for the people on this list, heal the people on this list, bless the people on this list, and in your spare time, can you end world…

Supporting the Loconomy
Last weekend, our city hosted a festival in the downtown area to celebrate the local businesses and bring the community together. The turnout was rather low, but my husband and I were able to discover a handful of local businesses that we're pretty excited to support in the near future. On our walk home, we wandered into a French chocolate shop, just to survey the situation.
Maison Robert Fine Chocolates is a…

Crucial Tips on How to Treat Bacterial Meningitis
If not handled quickly, meningitis is certainly a disease that could be life treatening. In order to avoid this, discovering the particular meningitis signs or symptoms will probably be really helpful. In this case we determine the different indicators of meningitis.
Significant head ache is undoubtedly the most frequent meningitis manifestation. Scientific tests state that such things happen 90% of the time, particularly in circumstances of microbe meningitis. It's usually combined…

Grilling Season!
It's Memorial Day, which marks not just a day to honor and remember those who have fought for our freedom - it's also a day to celebrate them (and the beginning of summer) by cooking out.
It's grilling season!
We decided to grill our vegetarian meal on Saturday night. It was a tasty, quick, and easy meal. We grilled almost everything, too! Clean up was simple, and we enjoyed our meal on the back porch, listening to the sounds of nature (we live in the…

Bargain Shopping
Saturday, after a workout and breakfast, my husband and I enjoy heading to the local farmer's market to stock up on some tasty locally-grown produce (and taste/purchase the wares of the bakers and cheese makers on occasion). Strawberries are on their way out at this point, so we're taking every opportunity we can to get some. Our strawberry supply went quicker this week with the visit from our niece (she loves her strawberries).
We were visiting on particular farm's booth with…

Closing on House soon
I am still learning how to use this blog. I received nice comments and suggestions from Michelle and Inspiritual. thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.
Asl the closing approaches I am telling myself...
God only knows what I am getting into. The house needs painting inside and out. It needs new flooring I would prefer hardwood, but not sure my budget will allow. I may need to use laminate flooring. I dislike carpet... The house needs…

What Are We Trying To Tell Ourselves, Really?
I subscribe to two categories of magazines - those which focus on fitness and those which focus on food. There are a few that overlap the categories (Real Simple, Whole Living, and More), but the bulk of my reading can be separated into food and fitness.
The food magazines are focused on the right things: food and how to choose it, buy it, cook it, and make it easier to prepare meals. The headlines on these magazines are fairly benign, but usually include something about…

What does your garden grow?
I am not sure what it is about this time of year that I find myself thinking about herbs. Maybe it is the surprise visit I found in my outdoor gardening area the past few weeks as what I thought would be empty buckets began to reveal hearty chives, mint, and basil. At the same time, I have found myself thinking about how much my relationship with herbs has changed over the last few years. I can remember a time when everything was just a spice and you found them all in bottles in aisle. I…

The Dream of the Planet: Yours, Mine, and Ours
planet.” In The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Toltec Wisdom, it is defined as “The combined energetic structure of beliefs, rules, and concepts that all the humans on our planet simultaneously dream and project onto our constrained reality.” looking at this definition, it can seem so overwhelming and difficult to understand. However, as I have come to understand it is that it occurs anytime two beings choose to connect with each other. When we connect, we have an exchange of energies and…
