The other day I was completing my profile on foodbuzz.com – it is a community for food bloggers. Perhaps the question I found most intriguing was when they ask you to list your favorite ingredient. For practicality purposes, I listed butter, but I could have easily put cheese. The problem is that my favorite ingredient is one that will never come up in an ingredient search on any recipe site. Foodbuzz.com, food.com, foodnetwork.com, and any other recipe sites you can think of do not list my…Read more

So I just turned 31 and realized that I do not want to be a banker the rest of my adult life. I would really like to get back into Human Resources. I found a great online university to get my PHR or SPHR in HR Management. I'm so excited. I will have my cert. by Feb. I have also made the decision that I want to move. I need to do it now while Sophia is still young. I have picked the place I want to move. Portland, OR. I have been researching the place. One of the banks admin offices is there…Read more
I just got started gettin' the info together yesterday late afternoon. It said to start the monday after I get goin'. I reckon that will be next Monday since this is Thursday. I hope to have read enough, gathered enough info and plan how to schedule my daily routine to include all of this into it, to be ready by then. With ADHD, old age, health issues and a animal sanctuary to run at the same time, it won't be easy. I know I can do it. I can start it, but will I be able…Read more

Something lost…something found…
How do you deal with the loss of an object that is treasured? I know we are not supposed to get hung up on material possessions but today I left a beautiful shawl at the coffee shop that was given to me by my daughter. I am trying really hard to…Read more
This past weekend I had the honor of attending a concert featuring the music of all women composers. They had a full house of enthusiastic listeners—male and female—who represented so many branches of the arts—music, dance, visual arts, writing, and theatre. As a friend commented, she was “blown away” by how amazing and vibrant everyone was. It was impossible to avoid comparisons with several unhealthy and bitter musicians I have encountered over the years.

Sometimes it just takes getting away from the city to attain extended silence. I just spent 48 hours at a silent retreat center in the country. So refreshing.
An interesting thing I noticed after I got back yesterday was how connected I felt to people. Even people walking down the sidewalk I'd never met felt like they belonged to me, like we were connected somehow. I saw one man with headphones on and suddenly it seemed the connection was broken. I'm not sure why I felt that. Maybe…Read more
