I've been faithful to the detox recommendations for two days now. smoothie for breakfast, steamed fish and salad for lunch, smoothie for dinner. I even found coconut water!
I'm feeling pretty good, except for a consistent low-level headache that won't leave me. I'm guessing it's some combination of the caffeine withdrawal and the fasting diet, so I'm just drinking as much water/ coconut water/ tea as I can. Any thoughts on this?
Also, and I know this is a delicate topic,…

So far things are going pretty well. Yesterday morning I wasn't quite prepared and for lunch I had gluten and dairy...but I had been at a dinner party the night before and sent home with goodies. They would have gone bad if I hadn't eaten them right? ;) Anyway this morning I had a green tea and a mango smoothie based on the recipe given. It was good and green.
And today I did my fitness test and scored average on most things and good to average for my cardio and arm strength.…

I am writing this blog to get the opinions of others about the newest venture I have taken on. I recently started a Medicare Consulting company for the elderly and disabled citizens in my area. My goal is basically to help those who can't help themselves so to speak. Besides helping them to decide which insurance company to choose and keeping an updated log of what medicines they are on so that they are using the best prescription plan according to they meds, I will be donating a percentage of…

I feel like my body is processing food more efficiently since detoxing. Even though I didn't follow the plan completely (had one really bad afternoon), I still think it helped my body realign. And I feel like I'm losing weight, actually I've lost about 5 lbs since starting this program. Nice!
My main challenge right now is to get some exercise and continue meal planning. I have a house guest until Friday and I'm having some people over for dinner tonight. My guest wants pizza, so I'm…

I think my sister might have snuck in some tempeh in earlier recipes, and I know my mom snuck tofu into meals when we were younger, but what follows is a love story based on my first real memory of tempeh.

Whoops, that was like a crash and burn. I started Day 8 (yesterday) out great. Had the Mango Smoothie for breakfast, Apple/Fennel Juice for a snack. Brown Rice with Dal Makhani for lunch. V8 late afternoon snack. Then I went home where the Doritos still laid in wait, lurking in the cupboard I had to get in. Ready to lurch and attack me at any time. I of course had the oh so helpful self talk of "hey, I'm done with the detox, just a few won't hurt". I counted 6 out and had them with my whole…

I started with a juice of strawberry, orange and nopal. For lunch I had fish with tomato sauce and celery with a side of white rice. One glass of water. And for dinner egg with dry meat (machacado) with beans and 3 tostadas. As a snack later on I had a bowl of special K with half a banana and milk and a cup of green tea. 4 more glasses of water. I got a bit frustrated because I weighted myself today and realized that I gained almost 4 effin pounds that I didn't know! So I definitely need to…

Today I had a patty of meat with a salad of lettuce, mushrooms, tomato, soy sprouts and avocado with ranch dressing and a glass of hibiscus juice. In the afternoon I drank about 600 ml of hot chocolate because I was so cold and had a huge craving. When I got home I got very anxious so I had chips with prepared corn which had mayonnaise, cream, cheese and chili with more hibiscus juice. At midnight I got beyond anxious and got up to eat a bowl of ham cut in squares, cheese and pizza sauce with…

I have eaten more vegetables this past week than ever before, I believe, and the funny thing is, I'm actually enjoying them for the first time. I even loved the Green Juice. I feel so light and energetic, I just don't want to stop detoxing today. Had the Pineapple Gazpacho for breakfast. Pretty good. Lunch out in a Sushi restaurant today and ordered salmon sashimi and steamed vegetables. Had the leftovers for dinner with a couple of slices of melted Provolone cheese. We'll see how that goes…

My head's a bit cloudy right now, not due to the Action Plan, but rather from a gas leak in my house. It has been fixed after a 2 hours chill-out outside, but apparently I have to let the gas dissipate from my house and until then I've got a headache and feel tired. I guess it's nothing to worry about since the dude didn't think it was a big deal...
Anyway, I need to blog my food for the day, and here it is:
Breakfast: oatmeal cooked in almond milk with a sliced banana (soooo…

I am getting ready to go to bed, before I do that, I want to keep track of today's events.
Observations after eating
Not sure if it was the couscous or the egg, but it moved pretty quickly.
Hmm, do I have issues with eggs. Will have to keep an eye.
I noticed that my lips are very dry. I think I am dehydrated, but I keep drinking water and caffeine free tea. Am I not drinking enough water?
Observations about cravings
I noticed today,…

I must start off by apologizing for going MIA for so many days! I had written a full blog post for last Wednesday evening, and had a draft for Thursday, and it would seem that posting them escaped me completely. So, I'll recap a little and tell you where I faltered, and then begin anew with Week 2.
The second day of the detox I felt good - almost like I could really do it! And then the third day, it all fell apart again. I felt so hungry for almost the entire day, even after eating…

Well I did not have much success today. I had total cinnamon sugar cereal for breakfast, potato soup with bread for lunch, a banana and granola bar for snack, and pasta with mushrooms and deer meat sauce. I was hoping to stick more to the detox list and just introduce things slowly, but life has it's way of intruding. I am feeling full and bloated after dinner, it's probably the two slices of oat bread with garlic, butter, and vegan cheese, that is pushing my limits. I shouldn't eat this late,…

Well, detox day one is behind me now (since I'm behind the group), and all I can say is thank you, sister! We checked in via text periodically throughout the day and even helped fine-tune some of the recipes. Her suggestion is to always add ice instead of water for a more appetizing consistency!
At any rate, so far so good. Usually I make it through about 1/2 day of anything like this. But, with green tea, water and a couple of handfuls of almonds, all went pretty well. I even made a…

Is day 8 too soon to give up? I gave up diet coke, really it was just one a day and only the small ones. I am tired and I'm getting a cold. Do I have to do my yoga tonight? Can't I just call the walking around at work a workout today and promise to wake up with a new attitude tomorrow? I had a great shake for breakfast, a salad with chicken at lunch and a good dinner. This is where I start thinking about giving up.... help

Still feeling pretty crappy. Damn you, lady time and possible cold brewing in my system. I will fight you both!
So, I guess I should share something: after being a strict vegan for 2 years, I have decided to introduce some animal products back into my life. I will probably be dairy-free until the day I die (intense, intense lactose intolerance) and can't picture myself eating land animals, but I have decided to incorporate local, organic, cage-free eggs and some seafood back into my…

I want to keep with the liquid breakfast and dinner a bit longer. I feel pretty good, and I know I'm "shrinking" my stomach. I don't need big snacks between meals (how is that possible? :) ). I can have a hot tea and forget about eating for awhile.
I seem to have an unusual amount of chaos in my life lately. Today it started with me locking myself out of my house, with my husband out of town and the "extra key" locked inside the house because I gave it to the babysitter (because my…

Well, as I chose not to detox last week for medical reasons, I'm not really facing a big change today. I kept my coffee intake low and watched the amount of water I drank. For some reason, when I keep reminding myself to have a glass of water on top of every hour, it just feels like I can't get enough of it! It's like drinking water regularly actually makes me want it more often, while not drinking enough water seems to make my body get used to being parched and I completely forget about…

A confession:
Saturday was my 4th day of detox, and I started the "retox" (ha!) process a little early. I had a smoothie for breakfast, a brown rice dish for lunch, an afternoon cup of green tea and then a smoothie dinner. But as I was watching chick flicks and catching up on some reading, I decided to sneak in a 100 calorie bag of Smart Pop Kettle Corn. And then two cookies. And that's it, I swear! I did feel a little… Read more
