Spring is a great time to take a time inventory. New life is sprouting and our lives should reflect our values. How we spend our time determines how much our values affect our life. What is valuable to you? Does your schedule reflect it?

Summer Time Skin!
Getting the Glow — Exfoliation
The outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, provides a direct barrier between our internal and external environments. Skin in the epidermis is in a constant state of regeneration — new cells are produced in the deeper layers, mature, and gradually migrate to the top layer of the…

Run, Baby, Run
Since moving to my new home in a new town, I have been struggling to find a fitness routine. I thought once we moved I would buy a treadmill to help me along with workouts or walk diligently each day on my lunch break. However, between the cost and space associated with the treadmill and the fact that my lunch breaks seem to be non-existent, I haven’t been able to get consistent exercise.

Butterfly Kisses
Recently, my family went to a local Butterfly Conservatory. My husband and I had never been to a butterfly conservatory before but I really thought my son would enjoy it (Caillou certainly did when he visited one!).

my #2 resolution: having a set daily dinner time
If you and your family are getting back to school, work and home routines today, how about aiming to set a family dinnertime this week? Tonight will be our third evening of sitting down as a family and I have to say-- it has been wonderful. Maybe the novelty will wear off....and maybe it'll become too logistically difficult, but we're giving it a…

Tick Tock
My good friend Chris recently told me that his son is 14 years old, the very same age that Chris was when I first met him years ago. As I watch the snow falling outside of my window. I think of how fleeting time is -- how just like the snowflakes, the days (and years) come and then melt away. As we prepare to close out one year and usher in the next, I find myself reflecting a lot about time. In fact, I just read a poem this week that began, "What is time?". Time is a strange thing. It has…

How I got back in Shape after Babies and Stayed in Shape with Toddlers
I am excited to be a part of this community.
I would like to share a blog post from my website that I think could be helpful for many women.
Today, as I walked at the track, I started thinking about the difficulty women have with losing weight or staying in shape when they are busy with babies, toddlers, and every other thing that we have to do.
If you are a new mom, a mom with little ones (or even bigger) or you know…

Time Management?
Are you managing your time, or is time managing you? It is easy to let life happen only to find ourselves at the end of the day further behind then where we started. If you find this happening all too often in your world, then today's post is for you. Consider this a gentle reminder for self awareness. What is most important to you on any given day and WHY?…

The best gift we ever gave to our family was shedding the television. Granted, it still sits in a room, connected to a DVD player, but there is no cable, no antenna, no television service, and DVD renting is something we only do around winter holiday times. The second best thing that happened was accidentally dropping my cell phone in water, and, at the time, not being able to replace it.
Unplugging has given us so many more hours in the day, individually and as a family.…

As a writer and college instructor, I do most of my work from home, at my desk, that is centrally located in the living room, halfway between my comfy bed and the kitchen full of enticing goodies.
Because of the physical blend of work and home, I have to be very disciplined to not capitulate to the urge to vacuum or IM relatives. I have found that I best maintain that separation by establishing a schedule, and sticking to it as rigorously…

I finally got down to doing a full-week internet detox. Not by sheer willpower unfortunately - I had a nasty stomach bug and almost landed in the hospital so turning the computer on was out of question. However, I have to say that if I knew the results were so good, I would have done it before willingly!Added by Mariana Miguel on June 16, 2010 at 10:00pm — No Comments
