Ok, so there comes a time when you cave and you say, What would life be without refined flour and sugar? Hey, I'm all for roughage and grains, but when it comes to a place like Bouchon bakery, well, let's say you'll make an exception.

I stopped by this famous bakery en route to visit Schramsberg vineyards and pretty much melted into a very happy puddle when I walked in: fresh bread, lumpy, delectable buttery scones, croissants that were so plump and perfect that all other croissants only wish they could be like that. It was hard to choose. But for today at least, I decided to go with a decaf cafe americano and...the chocolate cherry scone.

I indulged. And I don't regret it for one second.

Um- that looks delicious. Refined sugar-1, Veggies-0, Fruit- 1/2 for those sweetened dried cherries :)

Exactly. What can I say? Sometimes complex carbohydrates just don't hack it. I love to make homemade pizza, and I've made sveral attempts to dress up the whole wheat dough so that I'd like it better, but at the end of the day, that white flour is just worth it.
