This morning, I had the opportunity to teach a boot camp-style fitness class at a gym nearby. The regular instructor is out of town today, so it was a good time to learn the ropes. There were about 10 people in the class, mostly women. They were a fit group of individuals, and it's a good thing. The workout I gave them was designed by the gym owner.

Workout
1-mile run
100 each
air squats
push-ups
sit-ups
tuck jumps
box jumps

50 on each arm/leg
pistol squats
1-arm burpees

It was a great hour for me - getting to lead the workout and check form, make corrections, etc. One attendee said I was "kind of scary." That's good to a trainer.

This afternoon, I get to go back and learn some nutrition software and then tomorrow learn spin class instruction.

In the mean time, I need to shower up and go work on my fitness. It's swimming day for me at the Y. What are you doing to work your body today?

Catherine - I taught this class at a training studio, not at the Y. The classes at the Y are intense, but they seem to incorporate more exercises and use timed intervals instead of a quantity goal. I think you'd surprise yourself if you gave it a try. Plus, the instructors should be able to modify any of the exercises in the class to meet participants at their fitness level.

Michelle - It does make me proud. But it makes the days I need to rest (like today) really difficult because I have to fight the urge to do more. I haven't been spending enough time on my bike. I need to get more practice so I can improve (and use my cycling shoes).

OK your post has made me realize I am definitely not ready for the boot camp class at my local Y. I'm so glad you posted this because otherwise some Sunday morning I would have showed up for boot camp and I probably would have passed out! Maybe someday I'll get there :-)
