Today was the first day of the challenge and also my first day back to work after 40 days away straight (overdue vacation time, end of year holidays etc). I was afraid it might be hard to keep up with the challenge with all the change of routine going on, but I think I managed ok.

I had committed to walking 30 minutes today and drinking plenty of water. Drinking 2 liters of water was just fine, as I didn't have much going on at work and getting away from my desk every now and then felt nice for my back and my spirit. I walked about 30 minutes throughout the day as part of getting to work and having lunch and by the time I got home it was kinda late and I had to research and start writing a paper for college... I thought of staying home and maybe working out another day, but I kept my resolution strong and went for a 30 minute walk just for the exercise, so that I would add 30 minutes of movement to my normal routine. It's quite hot in here, so I sweated a lot even though I went for a walk after sunset, but it felt great to be outside breathing fresh air and looking at the beautiful landscape.

Coming back home, I made a homecooked meal from scratch: pasta with eggplant and tomato sauce. It may not be low on calories, but I'm not really a dieting person. I'd rather lose weight by being more physically active. Plus, it tasted way better than industrialized, pre-cooked food picked up from the supermarket.

Now, I'm off to researching and writing my paper. Let's see how I go tomorrow.

Oh, and I forgot to tell: I manage to have only 4 (small) cups of coffee today, which is an all-time low for me in ages, plus I ate fish for lunch, which I hadn't done in about a decade or so. : )
