Greetings, My Friends!

From the Mind of Aberdeen

Happy Friday!  The weekend is here.  I hope you have fun plans ahead!  I am going hiking with a networking contact turned friend.  I'm really looking forward to it!  We have been planning it for over a month and we're excited.  It is supposed to rain and I was a little concerned that she might want to reschedule, but she sent me a message really psyched and ready to go!  She said the rain would make it more of an adventure.  How lucky I am to have found someone just like me!

Challenge of the Day

Wow, what an energizing challenge!  Holding this stretch for one minute really super-charged my morning.  The position is such a great way to start the day.  I definitely agree that stretching has an effect on immunity.  When I commit to practicing yoga several times a week, I hardly ever get sick.  As the challenge explains, stretching enhances circulation, which in turn reduces your chance of getting sick!  Bottom line: stay active + remain healthy!

Enlightening Tidbits

Continuing the discussion on becoming more green - I have made great efforts to decrease my amount of food waste.  I truly have made great strides.  I mentioned earlier how I read the book "America's Wasteland," and was inspired to make a change!  I have made a conscious effort to reduce my eating out.  The author discussed how he found a lonely orange in a grocery store parking lot and ... ate it!  I am so impressed.  I am unsure if I'd ever have the courage to do the same, but I suppose it is great to have a goal!  I became pretty strict along the way, and try my very best to consume all leftovers and use all that I buy!  Once, a family friend was over for dinner and went into the fridge to grab a drink and came up saying, "wow, you haven't gone food shopping in a long time, huh?"  Haha!  It was such a great feeling.  Why buy more food when you can eat what you have?  So, last night I wondered if I had achieved another level.  I was eating hot salsa with blue corn chips ... and the chips were stale ... they were bad ... real bad ... but, I still ate them.  Each bite I thought: I'm not wasting!  Every small step helps.

Enjoy the weekend, good-night, xo,

Aberdeen

Thank you for the tip, Michelle!  I still have more than half a bag of stale blue chips, so I'm definitely going to try it.  I will let you know how it goes.  I'd love to hear more about your soup!  That is awesome that you're able to use up your leftovers.  So green, creative and delicious!!
