Today marked the first day that my mom, step-dad, and I started the Detox-liquid-breakfast-and-lunch program. We had the mango smoothie for breakfast, which was nothing like I expected it to be. I admit that I had imagined it to be a deliciously sweet, refreshing, tropical drink that helped me wake up and feel energetic in time for school... I have no idea why I expected that. Unfortunately, in my early-morning haze, I couldn't appreciate the mixture of flavors and it took me far too long to drink (ultimately causing me to miss my bus and end up arriving at school late). I blame none of that on the smoothie, however.
Throughout the time between breakfast and lunch, I found myself far hungrier than normal, and I was shocked that I was still hungry at lunch (I generally am hungry for the hour before lunch until five-minutes before the bell rings, and have completely lost my appetite once I actually sit down at a table with my friends and my lunch.), was and delighted to find that I was feeling content after eating lunch.
For lunch, I had a delicious lentil salad (I simply made a salad with the detox-approved foods - which unfortunately meant no tomatoes, but I can deal with that - and then put in about half of a cup of cooked lentils and topped it all with a small bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar).
When I got home, I found that I was surprisingly full of energy, but was also very hungry. I had a rice cake and waited a bit before realizing that I was still slightly hungry. To satisfy said hunger, I had a rice cake with almond butter and snacked on many figs before dinner while enjoying lots of tea.
Dinner: We had a delicious red lentil lemon soup, in which we left-out the ingredients that went against the detox.
Exercise: Thanks to the wonders of gym class, I had a very (and I mean vveeeerrrryyyy) slow-pace game of volleyball that lasted for a total of what I'd estimate to be forty minutes. I also walked home from the bus stop, which is a 0.6 mile walk and is very enjoyable.
Other than those things, I haven't done much that applies to the detox. I've been very glad to sit next to the fire and read while sipping tea and doing some homework.
How about you? How have you been feeling about this? Any noted changes in your feelings or food cravings? Personally, I've been dying for some cheddar cheese and bread, but alas, it'll have to wait.
