I noticed this whole body action plan on the many emails I began receiving from Martha Stewart.com and it's affiliates when I decided that I needed to learn how to cook for myself. A naturally skinny person, I've never had a problem with my weight and have always been able to eat whatever I wanted without really having to worry about the consequences. However, during my freshman year of college, my terrible eating habits began to catch up to me and I was soon sleeping poorly, feeling generally terrible most of the time, and beginning to get faint when I stood up. I visited a doctor during my sophomore year at the University health center, expecting to be told that I had hypoglycemia or something like that. Instead, I was told basically that my eating habits were terrible and I was referred to a nutritionist. The advice she gave me I probably followed for about a minute, and then I was back to my usual self. I am now in my junior year, and though I haven't gained weight at all (in fact, if anything I've lost some weight), I've developed an odd sleeping problem that I've never had before where I turn off alarm clocks in my sleep. It got so bad that I began sleeping through work, and I even slept through one of my finals. Not good. Anyway, I caught sight of this plan on the whole living website and it was just today that I finally decided I should give this a try and maybe once and for all kick my bad eating habits and lack of exercise motivation. Lofty goals? Maybe. But hey, even if I only succeed in a few things, it will still be better than the place I'm at right now. I'm a bit apprehensive about the meals, because I've never really been a fan of vegetables, with a few exceptions, and I do love my fried, fatty, and sugary foods. And give up chocolate?! Fat chance... I'm hoping to substitute some 85% dark chocolate my brother got me for Christmas to satisfy that sweet tooth. I did find a juicer on amazon.com for only $25 dollars, so I'm excited to give that a shot, and I'm pretty sure my Magic Bullet blender will see more action that it has in a whole year in these next couple of days! Also, I'm kind of scared to assess my fitness level as I am fully aware I've let that go recently. I love running and yoga, but my motivation level is low at best and I've never been able to keep it up. Hopefully this will give me the motivation I need to really get going! So I know this is long and sprawling, however, there was a lot to get out and verbalize for my own sake. I hope that this will be a fun, and exciting 4 weeks and that I will come out a more balanced, healthy, and happy person in the end! Good luck everyone! :)
