I never really had ant trouble during the three years I lived in the country (out past a squash farm), but now that I'm back in New York, they've staged a full-scale invasion. My brilliant friend Kerry (who is prepared for every life situation, the way only a former Girl Scout counselor can be) suggested spraying the places they congregate with a solution of half vinegar, half water. I asked my Significant Other to get some vinegar without saying what it was for, and he came home with balsamic, which I gamely mixed up and sprayed.
When I called Kerry up to report, she said, "Honey, balsamic has sugar in it."
I guess that's why I never made it past the Brownies (where we just made cheerleading pyramids and learned to eat with chopsticks).
At any rate, the balsamic seemed to work, though it's made my floor sticky. I'm going to try it again with the regular kind. Does anybody else have any natural remedies that might encourage my ant population to relocate?
