I am not sure if it is wheat or sugar, but one of them makes my joints ache. I know because this is not the first time I have done a detox and found that I never have joint paint as soon as I take these 2 ingredients off of my menu. That said it might be one or the other. I would not know since I always take them out of my diet and add them back, usually in the form of bread and jam, at the same time!

I am going to take advantage of this detox by adding back bread first to see what happens and then sugar. We are planning on a ski trip this February, and I find that I ski a lot better when I am not having joint problems.

This reminds me of the saying at Delphi... Know thyself! We are so complex. Living our best life is an incredible project of getting to know ourselves and having the courage to act on it.

I have actually decided to turn the detox on its head. I have been cutting one thing out at a time for 10 days to see what happens! First off was sugar... and boy have I seen the difference, but I have known for a while that I do not support sugar very well. My joint problem seems gone. In fact, I can't wait for yoga class this Saturday to really test it! I am just starting with gluten.

The joint pain sounds like something that could likely be linked to the wheat and or gluten. Thanks to my son and sister I've had a lot of dealings with all the different ways those two can cause trouble! Once you start to add things back in make sure you do one thing at a time and read the labels, to make sure you know what you are having. Gluten has a million and one names, it spans everything from rye, barley and wheat, including anything with malt and occationaly modified food starch.

Good Luck and I hope it's something more simple, like the sugars :)

Hi,

You are correct...elimination of carbs...especially breads and refined sugars help with my joint pain, asthma, and other inflamatory illnesses...even PMS.  I was so happy to see your post this morning because it confirmed what I have experienced.

The other thing that has helped is the total elimination of diet soda...ie..SODIUM...another white substance that should only be used sparingly.

Sounds like you are doing a great job with the Detox...I have had my ups and downs the past 2 weeks...but have noticed that my mood, joints and body aches, headachaes, have all been better.  I have more energy as well.  The one thing I have totally eliminated is diet soda.  I can't believe I have gone 14 days without even 1.

Good luck to you Cassandra!

Jennifer
