It's been a social month. Today's challenge: Find respite from the noise.

Don’t talk at all today, or maybe just for a while this afternoon. Quiet on the outside -- even a few silent hours -- can help cultivate your inner ear, and, eventually, quiet on the inside.

Tomorrow's challenge: Snack for a beachy glow.

Yesterday's challenge: Get creative with your leftovers.

I make sure I have some quiet time that nothing can infringe on every day so I can sit and think. That's when I work through the things that go on in my 'busy' time and do my meditation. Without that dedicated time to step back and take stock, things could get overwhelming and seem much bigger than they really are.
By leaving the radio and TV off most of the day, I also spend more time in silence than a lot of my friends. They are amazed I can exist without that constant background 'noise'.

I spend many hours silent each day, whether I'm reading, exercising, or working. It has helped me become much more comfortable with general silence :)

"Don't talk all day"??? Ha-- I was hoping for 30 minutes of quite time :) My daughter has a play date today and my Mom is heading home today so I should be able to get some quiet time. Wow - I can't wait. I love my family, but I NEED the quiet time to help me think.
