I'm attempting to meet friends for "dinner" tonight. I've had a mostly liquid day, so I'm thinking I'll swap in a bit solid food and juice tonight. We're meeting at a Thai place, so I'm hoping I can find the right thing on the menu, but I'm very nervous about the big beer and bowl of Pad Thai that one of my friends will inevitably order and will look unbelievably tempting.

Has anyone else dined out during the detox? Any suggestions?

So, what did you end up doing? I'm curious since I am conflicted with the same problem tomorrow, im fine with the food, it's the wine i cannot resist!

I love the thoughts placed here. It helped me realize I am not alone in my struggle with this.

Choose something that you feel good about. While it is important not to beat yourself up it is also important to fill your body with foods and beverages that will leave you feeling healthful.

I agree with Mariana. It is about being balanced - so don't beat yourself up. I myself had this issue yesterday twice in the evening. I saw my family and my aunt and uncle came by to visit too. My Italian Mother whipped up some sausages and meatballs, pasta, salad, steak, and homemade bread, etc etc. Homemade bread is one of my ultimate favorites but I somehow summoned all my willpower and resisted, sticking to my soup. Then later went to see friends before they deploy overseas and they chose an Italian restaurant to go to! I successfully avoided this one sticking to the plan but with hungry eyes. It soon passed though because I knew I had already eaten my soup and I felt good- nourished but not overly full. Just remember its only for a short time and it's for your own body's good! You'll be done detox before you know it!

I went to a Thai restaurant the night before the liquid detox and found a brown rice/veggie/tofu stirfry that seemed appropriate. I think you've earned it with your mostly liquid day.

I haven't dined out during the detox, but I have had lunch out this week and I did eat a couple things that were in the "foods to exclude" list, such as bread and soda. If you do eat something that's "forbidden", don't beat yourself up for it. Excluding something from your life completely (even if just for a week) is harsh. Is doing it worth the trouble? If following the diet plan to the letter is going to keep you from having a good time with your friends, let go of the detox diet for a meal. You can always jump back in the detox bandwagon tomorrow morning and have a light, healthy breakfast. Remember, this is a Whole Living action plan. Sacrificing your mind and your heart over your body is not the point. The secret for a balanced life is in making the right choices, not in sticking to hard-fast rules. Enjoy your Thai dinner! : )
