Coming from a family where melanoma has affected a few people, I recently learned that it may be more genetically-linked than sun-linked (or...both?) So for my vacation next week in Mexico, I have decided to fully arm myself with a UPF 50 hat (I have new highlights, I don't want to ruin those either.), beach umbrella, SPF 70 and even lip SPF. I am taking no chances (especially since I took plenty of those slathered-in-baby-oil chances in college, yikes).
The
hat is cute in a sort-of Ali MacGraw-throwback kind of way. It goes with my chic new bathing suit (I had to put together a look. My mother, after all, works in the fashion industry.) and I plan on using it to the max. Sun be damned. I want to save my skin!

Does anyone have any good sun tips or advice?
