Flexibility is, above all, functional: Can you tie your shoes without sitting down? Get into the back seat of a car easily? Try this test: Sit on the floor with legs straight out in front of you and reach forward beyond the base of your feet. How far can you go without bouncing? Anything from .5 to 4 inches is average; below that, let’s say you’re a little on the tight side. Get stretches and strategies for touching your toes here.
