Deep breathing is the key to relaxation. It's breathing from the diaphragm/core, taking oxygen down into the abdomen first. This kind of breathing enhances sleep, meditation, relaxation, thought process, digestion and all around good health
I find it useful when I have pain of some kind in my body. I breath deeply, then I focus my thoughts on the area of pain in my body. I imagine the oxygen going to that part of the body. Soon I sense a tingly feeling there and it helps ease the pain. One example was when I had to get a root canal. I normally tense up so much in the dentist chair that I become stiff and by the time I leave, my whole body is in pain. I've never thought I could control the muscles during that kind of stress. So when I went in for the root canal I decided to try deep breathing. Each time I felt a muscle tense, I focused my thoughts and breathing in that area. The doctor said he'd never had a more relaxed patient!
the I'm sure there's some official name for this, but I believe God gave us this gift of breathing as part of our arsenal of weapons with which to maintain good health.
So if you're feeling tense or worried today or if you have any pain . . . take a breath.

It really does help to ease it. And I find that when I am really stressed, my breathing is shallow. Just slowing down and taking deep breaths in and out helps me get more grounded. Great post!
