I recently found this book in my Mom's Riverdale, New York kitchen.  "The Best Kitchen Quick Tips - 534 tricks, techniques, and shortcuts for the curious cook" is brilliant.  Compiled by the editors of Cook's Illustrated, this book logically lays out short cuts for preparing food, cleaning up, and kitchen efficiency.  I'd love to share some of my favorites with you in this post and in the future.

My first and helpful tip:  "Instant Counter Space".  Simply lay a cutting board across an open drawer.  This really helps in small kitchens!

This is a great tip! I have a kitchen without much counter space and I love to cook. That can be a challenge sometimes. I will give this a try later today when I chop veggies for dinner. Thanks for sharing.

Good one! My husband and I move around a lot and like to find places ot live that are "cozy" to keep our lives kind of minimal. But I think the majority of our things are my kitchen utensils and supplies! So it's good to get some ideas on how to work more efficiently in a small space. Looking forward to more tips!

I actually have a rather large kitchen that is somehow limited in drawer space, so this particular tip didn't work for me.  But I am looking forward to reading other tips.
