At some point every Tuesday I get super-excited when I realize that it is in fact Tuesday and one of my favorite shows, The Biggest Loser will be on tonight.

Photo courtesy of NBCA lot of people take issue with the fact that most of the show's contestants lose a very ambitious amount of weight every week, sometimes double figures. The problem with this is that people might come to think of 8 lbs a week as a normal, healthy loss, and become discouraged if (when) they are unable to replicate the results.
That having been said, anyone who knows about how the show works, and has basic knowledge about the science behind weight loss, would know that these people are extreme cases, and that normal people cannot expect the same kind of weight loss (nor should they try to). But maybe most people really don't realize this?
As someone who's lost a fair amount of weight before and is still trying to get to a manageable goal weight, I find the show to be inspirational. I see 400 lb+ people completing workouts and challenges that are way beyond their comfort zones, and quite simply put, if they can do it, so can I, right?
Do any of you guys watch? If you do, what are your thoughts?
