Down and dirty.  I've started a few posts, based off outlines I'd put together, and realised the subjects are so full that I need to break them up into posts that I would want to read.

So this is to get started.  Tomorrow I race.  It's getting late, I'm tired, sleeping a bit late and having a slow morning to enjoy coffee and breakfast would be lovely.  Instead, I'm finishing putting my kit together, making sure I've got water, food, snacks, sun block, money, ID, ICE numbers, shoes, helmet, gloves, and whatever other bits of gear to have a successful day.

Five years ago I still smoked, drank like a fish desperate to get back into water, and was so unfit I could barely jog around the block.  To see me was deceptive, I was slim enough, but no longer toned.

A lot has changed.  I'm training almost every day, I have new friends, I don't smoke, and maybe I'll have a glass or two of wine a week.  I'm getting back into art and design, abandoned 20 years ago to pursue a business degree and job.

More of all that later, I have to get to bed, because I have to eat at least two hours before I warm up so I don't feel as if I have eaten an energizing plate of bricks.  So I need to get up at my usual time, around 6.
