Summer CSA boxes are always bountiful in content; this week's was incredibly diverse, too.

The first apples of the season!

A red cabbage I ordered special

Red Russian Kale

Fingerling potatoes, garlic, and a lone pepper

Tiny bounty of tomatoes

We also received a pint of blueberries and I ordered a half dozen eggs this week. Now I need to set to work figuring out what we need to eat first and what will keep until next week. What's your favorite summer vegetable or fruit?

That all looks amazing! The first apples…..I love summer but I absolutely love apple picking season in New England in the Fall! I love so many fruits and veggies in the summer. Anything fresh picked from the garden is just amazing. I’d have to say my absolute favorite is tomatoes. They have this sweet flavor that just doesn’t compare to store bought.  I also grew strawberries and raspberries this year and even though I only got a handful for some reason they were the best berries I ever had! I wish I had a huge greenhouse to grow my own fresh food all year! One of my favorite tomato recipes in the summer is Spaghettini with Checca Sauce from Giada DeLaurentiis. It’s super light and fresh it really highlights the freshness of summer tomatoes.
